Where will you begin?

Puerto Plata

A north-coast alternative combining beaches with historic streets and a green mountain backdrop.

La Romana & Bayahibe

Consider the southeast for a beach base with opportunities to explore the surrounding coast.

Santo Domingo

Explore the capital's Colonial City for history, architecture and a change of pace from the resort.

Plan with a little perspective

Choose the holiday that fits

Punta Cana is a natural starting point for comparing all-inclusive resorts. Families, couples and groups can have very different priorities, so compare beach setting, room layout, dining arrangements and age policies.

Puerto Plata, La Romana and Bayahibe offer other starting points. Jarabacoa and the interior add a different landscape for travellers interested in a broader itinerary.

Beyond the resort

Allow time for Dominican food, music and local history. A guided visit to Santo Domingo or an excursion around your resort region can add another dimension to a beach-focused stay.

Distances matter: a day trip from one coast may be impractical from another. Check journey times and what is included before choosing an excursion.

When to go

The climate is tropical, with conditions varying by coast and elevation. Rain and tropical storms can affect travel, especially during the Atlantic hurricane season. Choose dates around your priorities and review the forecast and official travel guidance before departure.

Getting there

Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, La Romana and Santo Domingo serve different parts of the country. Check which airport your package uses and whether hotel transfers are included. An airport that looks nearby on a map may still mean a lengthy road transfer.

A smooth departure

Before you travel

Check current passport, visa and entry or exit form requirements for your citizenship and itinerary. The Dominican Republic uses an official electronic entry and exit form; use the government website linked here. Complete the form before travelling and keep the confirmation available.
